All your questions answered…..
How is VCR Fitness different to other fitness studios?
I offer a personalised service. Classes are small (maximum 7 people) so you get the attention you deserve.
I have 20 years experience and my private sessions are tailored to you so you get the most from your sessions.
Do I need to book?
You do not have to book. You can do a drop in class where you just turn up on the day. Classes are small so spaces are limited. Booking guarantees you a space. Booking a course allows you to take advantage of the online discounts available. Doing a course rather than a drop in class, you are more likely to progress quicker and see better results.
Can I book sessions online?
Can I pay for sessions online?
What experience is needed?
It does not matter if you have any experience or not. All my classes are small so I can adapt exercises specifically to your needs and abilities.
If you are completely new to pilates and/or have injuries it can be helpful to have a few private lessons first to help you build your confidence. Private lessons are an excellent way for me to really get to know your needs and abilities so I can give better options for you in classes.
I have injuries, can I still come to Pilates?
Yes. Pilates is safe for nearly every injury.
Jospeh Pilates designed Pilates as a form of rehabilitation and strengthening. It is wise to get doctors approval before starting an exercise program if post surgery or recovering from an injury. I often work with physiotherapists when someone is recovering. A lot of physio exercises are pilates exercises. What is crucial is that the exercises are done correctly and at an appropriate level. This is why I have small classes so I can carefully monitor everyone to make sure that everyone is as safe and effective as possible.
I ask you to complete an exercise par Q before exercise but do please highlight to me any particular injuries or problem areas that we need to focus on or be careful about.
What is the difference between Pilates & Yoga?
One of the main differences between Yoga and Pilates is that Yoga can be used for improving the flexibility of the body and it will also gradually increase the flexibility of your joints. Where as Pilates focuses on trying to relax muscles which are tense and provide strengthening of the numerous muscles of the body. Pilates aims to get the body moving correctly and helps to correct any imbalances in muscles.
Pilates offers a total body workout that focuses on spinal alignment making it so good at helping to improve posture.
Both yoga and pilates help bring an increased awareness of the mind body connection; yoga focuses more on the spirituality aspect and often includes meditation.
Do you charge extra for nutritional guidance and a diet plan?
I am not a nutritionist although I am happy to look at your diet and give suggestions when I can. I can help you with a diet diary and weight loss. If you are having private lessons I do not charge extra for this service.
Do I have to bring any equipment with me?
No. I provide all equipment you need.
Do please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement.
It is a good idea to bring a water bottle.
Sometimes we require you to complete exercise & health questionnaires, al copies of which can be found below.
