Pilates (pronounced puh-lah-teez and not pie-lates)
Pilates is similar to yoga but emphasizes your body’s core — the abdomen, obliques, lower back, inner and outer thigh, buttocks, and so on. For this reason, Pilates develops much of what exercisers need — strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, coordination, balance, and good posture — with a much lower chance of injury than with other forms of exercise. The discipline emphasizes correct form instead of going for the burn. With so many exercise variations and progressions, you may have a hard time getting bored with Pilates.
When are the classes?
Improving wellbeing is more than just a fitness decision, it’s a lifestyle commitment. My courses and sessions provide an excellent opportunity to exercise your body and mind which helps to reduce stress. They are also places to meet and share with other engaged and open-minded individuals.
Because of the control, breathing and focus Pilates helps improve many aspects of your life, including stress management, reaction time and short term memory. Those who have tried Pilates become more relaxed and less distracted by their fleeting thoughts, demonstrating an enhanced ability to solve problems and retain and recall information better. People often tell me they leave my classes feeling so much better than when they arrived and that they sleep well that night as well.
